Nzimande set to open skills centre in Richmond KZN

Skills training is going rural as Richmond in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands will soon have a new training centre.
The area hasn't had a training facility since the teachers training college was closed down in the mid 90's.  The new centre will offer business management and artisan courses among others and forms part of government’s drive to address poverty and unemployment.

“There isn't any facility beyond schools for training, we approached one of our Seta’s to work with us here and work together with the church, which has actually given us land on which to build what we call at the moment a skills centre,” says Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande.  The centre opens its doors in January and will initially be supported by the TVET College in Pietermaritzburg.
